Day of Detox

To follow up on yesterday's post, I thought I'd give an example of a typical day on my detox diet.

Breakfast: Oatmeal with rice milk and berries

Mid-Morning: Detox shake; Clementine

Lunch: Quinoa-Vegetable Soup & rice crackers and Superfruit shake

Teatime: Detox shake; Apple

Dinner: Pecan-crusted chicken breast with brown rice mix and broccoli

It is entirely do-able, but requires planning. The only problem I've had has been in getting off caffeine. I had some bad migraines the first two days, but only had a light headache yesterday afternoon.

It's also hard thinking about having to do this over Thanksgiving. Yet, there will always be a reason not to do this, so I've just gotta do it now. For Thanksgiving, I will be making a quinoa and dried fruits dish to have in place of stuffing (my favorite food, waa!) and my mom is going to give me some stuffing to freeze that I can have once I'm off the detox. I'm also going to try and see about making some mashed potatoes, dessert and maybe, bread that I can eat as well.

I repeat from yesterday, you rock.

Though I am with you on the stuffing - that is the best.

I admire your dedication.

How's JD's job going?

I agree, you rock! I read your post on the Detox overview. It sounds a bit like WeightWatchers Core, except more strict and minus the chalky shakes. Definitely requrires lots of planning, but I feel SO much better when I'm doing it right. Hope it goes well for you!!

Oooh that's tough. I hadn't even thought about Thanksgiving. The planning ahead is always the hardest part for me. I love to cook but somedays I come home from work and just want to order a pizza and be done with it. I'm so impressed with your resolve! Keep up the kickass work!

Wow, the meals you have listed really don't sound bad at all (although I would be sad, too, if I couldn't eat Thanksgiving stuffing!). What exactly is in the detox shakes?

Good luck with everything!

I am so proud of you for holding that perspective that there is always a reason and to fight through this.

Good for you! It doesn't sound like too much change...although anything this time of year is tough!

I agree with another poster who said that it sounds like Weight Watchers core program. Very, very healthy. You sound so determined. I look forward to reading more posts about your detox! I am hoping for inspiration. I can't seem to stop stuffing my face. Yikes.
