Rainbow Connection

A bunch of items, none of them long enough for a single post...

-There's a rainbow on my living room ceiling.  The rainbow is cast from a glass sculpture that JD and I purchased on our honeymoon.  I know that rainbows are just scientific phenomena, but they always give me hope.  I wish that this rainbow would be a sign for me.

-JD started a new job last week.  The commute is much better and we hope it will be a good fit for him.  JD's biggest complaint is that he has to wear a tie most days.  As a programmer, he usually was not expected to be dressed so formally.  I think he looks sexy, told him so, and he replied, "You think dumb looks sexy."  When I related this to BFF, she said that I should have told him, "Yes, well that's why I'm married to you."  :)

-This weekend, BFF and I went on a girls' weekend with my sister and her best friend, my mother and my grandmother.  We drove out to the beach and had a great weekend despite the snow.  We laughed ourselves silly.

-While driving out to the beach on Friday night, I received a call from my Fairy Godmother's daughter.  My Fairy Godmother passed on Thursday.  Mary's death was as I would have wished it -- peaceful and surrounded by her children and the love that we all have for her.  There are times when I feel her presence.  She must be looking over my shoulder and watching.

-I'm going in for the first procedure of Cycle Six now.  New motto: "Cycle Six: It's More Than Five, But At Least It's an Even Number!"  I'm usually pretty good about maintaining zen for the first week.  It's in the second week of the wait that the Hope-o-Meter goes all over the place.

-I'm looking for a good shampoo and conditioner.  I have really thick, coarse hair that paradoxically is oily yet feels like straw.  Any suggestions?

So glad you had fun at the beach! You completely deserve it. Paradoxically, my husband is miffed that he does not have to wear a tie to work. He thinks without the tie he doesn't work as well. Go fig!

I love the idea of a 3-generation girls weekend! Great idea.

I would take the rainbow as a good omen :)

I am so sorry for the loss of your fairy godmother. Perhaps she'll still be able to watch over you somehow, now that she is at rest.

I'm so, so sorry about your FGM, but alas she is at peace. Sounds like a lovely weekend though. I'm glad you were able to get away, and no doubt with a group who could comfort you.

I would recommend looking at Bumble and Bumble products for your hair. They're not cheap, but I love them. Check Amazon.com.

I really hope that Rainbow is a sign and your dreams are about to come true.

Hugs.

I really enjoyed reading this post and finding out about the different things you have going on in your life right now.

I am sorry about your Fairy Godmother. I do believe that she is looking over you. My aunt passed in September, and there have been many times where I have felt her looking out for me, and maybe even interceding to God on my behalf. (That may sound crazy, but it sure feels like she has been asking God for things for me.) Take comfort in the fact that she loves you and is watching over you, and take extra notice of things. I'll bet you will hear a song or see something that tells you that she is really there.

I hope that you are able to stay in Zen. Don't worry if you can't. If the anxiety comes, then it comes. Your little miracle is still quite able to happen even in the midst of anxiety.

I do have a shampoo and conditioner recommendation. It works beautifully on my hair. My hair is thick and curly and dry. It is for colored hair so I think that is why it is so softening. It is called Catwal.k Fash.ionis.ta (without the periods :) I love the shampoo and conditioner. It smells like grape candy. It is super expensive though, so maybe see if you could get it in a trial size.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your Fairy Godmother. I know she meant so very much to you.

May your Hope-o-Meter burst through the roof with nothing but continued good news for this cycle.

very sorry for your loss. (((Hugs)))

When I lived in Florida we had a prism dangling in one of the windows in the den. Usually I forgot about it but every once in a while the light would catch it just so and the entire den would flood with dazzling rainbows. And every single time it filled me with happiness and hope. Even on the worst of days.

It's a rainbow connection ;-)

Shampoo- I can't afford it anymore but I ADORE pureology. I have thick, course hair that is a fucked up combo of oily at scalp and dry everywhere else. I also color my hair. It's goooooooood.

Wow, six. I admire you. I don't know if I could do it. You must be a very strong person. For the hair, I use Bumble and Bumble's Does It All spray to straighten it. For everyday shampoo and conditioner, try Suave Humectant (very affordable). And recently I got some of Alterna's Caviar White Truffle Hair Elixir (expensive but you just add a tiny bit to your conditioner and it is amazing). Best wishes for six!

Yay for a good girls' weekend! Those can never be underestimated (and I definitely need to get out there to see you and the rest of the Crew soon). Good luck with 6...that feels like a lucky number!

And I'm so sorry about your fairy godmother, but I'm sure she is watching over you still!

I'm so sorry for your loss, Jendeis. I know Mary will continue to be present in your life in many ways, but I'm sure this time is still very hard on you. Sending the warmest hugs your way.

And you know, my 6th dIUI cycle was the lucky one and it was almost exactly one year ago. I'm hoping this means something very, very good for you.

Oh, and my favourite shampoo is Sebastian Xtah. It's in a red bottle and smells very yummy - it's very rich and moisturizing but always got my hair really clean.

I love your new motto! It speaks to a wonderful sense of optimism (mixed with a healthy does of sarcasm). :)

Have you tried the no-poo route? 1 tbs baking soda in 1 cup water to wash with (I use more when I'm oily) and 1 tbs of apple cider vinegar in 1 c water for your rinse. You won't smell like a pickle after rinsing the vinegar out....I swear. My hair is very delicate and gets pretty beat up and this has worked wonders for me. I can even go 2 days before I need to shampoo if I want to.
