Fat Free Yoga - None for Me

I did it! Actually went through and used the exercise DVD that I borrowed from the library. I even returned the DVD on-time last night, avoiding any late charges.

Fat Free Yoga is definitely not for beginners. I didn't know anything about Kundalini yoga prior to doing this routine, and based on my experience would advise yoga and overall fitness beginners to pass this one by until you are a little more fit.

The "narrator", Ravi Singh, doesn't explain the poses well enough and does not explain how the exercises will help whatever area he's focusing on. Breathing and actions must be rapid, but you are supposed to keep your eyes closed, so you never really know what's going on.

Once I had more experience in yoga, and a little more stamina and cardiovascular ability, I might come back to this, but I'm unlikely to do so. I think I'll be sticking to more traditional aerobic workouts for now.

Hmmm, I used to do yoga 3x a week and I loved it (now I do it home maybe once a week). Maybe I'll order it from NetFlix. I tried Yoga Slim and it was fairly simple and easy to follow.

I'm very impressed. And what a great idea to get workout dvd's from the library!

Well, kick ass and go you for trying it anyways! (And also for avoiding the late fine!)

Yoga is massively hard but it is my favorite form of exercise. Maybe try a beginners DVD to start?

Congrats! I'm not at all a fan of Kundalini yoga. I've taken several Hatha yoga classes, and they're so much better. I did one Kundalini yoga class because my aunt is an instructor, and I thought it was really weird. Not my thing at all. But great job on trying something different!!

If you're looking for alternate DVD suggestions, my favorite is the Quick Fix arms, leg and butt DVD. It allows you to pick any (3) 10-minute sessions to make a 30 minute workout. They also have a yoga/pilates DVD. And 10 Minute Solutions works the same way, but has ballet, yoga, pilates, boot camp, and...something that I can't remember. It's been awhile since I've done any of them! Now I feel the need to dig them out. Or to get back to DDR! Something to get moving again...

I've never tried yoga before but you've got me thinking there!

Darn I was thinking of trying that exact tape. I am not too flexible on the poses yet though so I think I will wait a bit.
