I Think We're in Sparta

It is altogether too appropriate that I was about to title this post, "Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Crazy," because I just figured out that this post is my 300th post. Yay!

Here's the regular crazy update: I'm nauseated. Why? Because I'm ovulating. See? I was feeling down on myself because "everyone else is having babies or pregnant or in treatment but me." Well, I don't get to feel entirely left out because I'm about to projectile vomit all over my office. No cool pics of drugs necessary, my body's figured out the sickness thing all by itself.

In this split second, I've decided to do a giveaway in honor of achieving 300 posts. The giveaway is open to anyone (blogger or non-blogger, but non-bloggers should make sure I have a way to get in touch with them), anywhere in the world. For a chance to win whatever the prize is, leave a comment with your favorite way(s) to alleviate nausea/motion sickness/morning sickness. Those who don't leave a complete comment will not be eligible for the prize.

Feel free to encourage others to press their luck here. I will close comments for this giveaway on Monday, January 19th at 10 PM Pacific Standard Time (cause I'll be in CA for a business trip).

Good luck!

Congrats on 300 posts. Try sour/tangy candy. I can't believe how well it works!

Laying down on the floor in front of the toilet. That is the only thing that works for me. :) Sometimes, anyway...

If it isn't that bad, laying in bed, on my side, with my eyes closed, complaining like crazy to Matt.

Not interested in the giveaway - I have too much stuffs I don't use already. However, I wanted to let you know that I too feel like the only one whose doesn't have a baby, isn't pregnant and isn't at least undergoing treatment. We should start ourselves a club!

HAPPY 300!!! wooo!

The only thing that works for me is cold packs on the back of my neck. I keep several in the fridge at all times and if I feel a wave I grab one and smoosh it to the nape of my neck. Works fast and every time.

OK, I know this is totally gross but if I start to feel nausea, I just make myself throw up and get it over with. I mean really, it's probably just going to happen anyway.

(This is where the craziness comes in, all I have to do is stand near the toilet and lean a little bit. My mind starts thinking about all the butt that has been where my face is close to and wham, throw up city.)

Probably not what you were looking for but there it is.

Fun! A giveaway! My method of quelling nausea is to drop some peppermint essential oil on a tissue and sniff it as needed. Definitely works for me, most of the time.

Hope you feel better very soon!

Yay on 300!!

When I was in the hospital - nothing worked for the nausea...the anesthesiologist came in and gave me a pack of alcohol wipes and I kept one under my nose when I got the urge - it worked. Also plain lays potato chips for some reason helps me.

Peppermint tea...but I see a lot of mints and tea going around already. Hope is right about the alcohol wipes too.

I always find peppermint candies work well: a bit of sweetness, some peppermint flavor :)

Happy 300!

Congrats on 300!! Whoo-hoo!! Ginger-ale is my sick stomach friend.

Congrats on post 300!

Sick stomachs: good ole' ginger ale.

Nasty coughs: cup of tea, apple cider vinegar, and enough honey to kill the apple cider vinegar taste.

Fell better soon.

My favorite way to alleviate m/s is to eat red grapes.

Happy 300!!! Many people have already said my favorite standby of mint tea.

Hanging like a limp rag off the side of the bed moaning "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" in a half-dead, bass tone seems to help, too. :)

Happy 300! For me, two things work. One is to smell coffee. Weird, but it works every time. The other is to eat egg noodles and drink apple juice.

Everyone tells you ginger ale, and that's ok and all but really reminiscent of when you were at home sick as a kid with the flu, watching Cosby re-runs and sleeping on the couch.

Believe it or not, what works for me is to eat a Granny Smith Apple.

If you've just read that without hurling, then give it a try - always worked for me.

I live only to serve.

I don't mess around. I ask for the drugs-Zofran makes you sleepy, but it works. I don't do nausea well.
Cograts on 300!

Here are my tips I have been using:

WATER!!!
Sour altoids
Paul Newmans Lemonade
Gum is for a quick fix but then the act of chewing triggers it again. BLAH!

Happy 300th!

To reduce nausea I like ginger snaps -- but not the regular ones, the ones with actual ginger chunks. If you're near a Trader Joe's, they have some triple-ginger cookies that have worked pretty well for me.
